Initial Situation
The introduction of generative AI in companies is comparable to the revolutionary leap from typewriters to computers. It represents a quantum leap in efficiency and consistency in quality, opening entirely new avenues for innovation and growth.
As a service-oriented financial services provider with over 3,500 employees and more than 2,400,000 customers, PostFinance has recognized the potential of empowering employees through generative AI and the resulting massive productivity boost. The goal is to generate multimodal content within a digital workflow at the push of a button for the first time and seamlessly integrate it into daily work routines.
Challenge
One of the biggest challenges was the art of prompting. Professional prompt engineering goes far beyond creating simple AI queries; it requires careful consideration of tone, style and consistency. The ability to guide the AI to respond accurately and in line with the desired mindset using minimal examples (few-shot prompting) is critical. This often involves the development of complex, multi-page prompts that are far beyond the capabilities of the average user of tools such as ChatGPT.
Solution
With AVA, we have developed a digital collaboration platform that uses generative AI to automate or assist with five everyday, repetitive use cases, allowing employees to focus on tasks that cannot (yet) be automated. AVA provides users with modules that allow them to easily perform these use cases. The results can then be assigned to a project or used to create a new project, enabling seamless collaboration.
To address the challenges of prompt engineering, we have implemented an advanced integration and combination strategy of various AI technologies within AVA. Through targeted development and the use of specialized algorithms for prompt engineering, we achieved high precision in response quality and deep integration with PostFinance's communication style and requirements. A key component was the implementation of a style guide to ensure that all generated content was not only accurate, but also in line with PostFinance's brand identity and communication guidelines.
The five use cases include:
