Implementation-oriented Portfolio Strategy

Development of an implementation-oriented product portfolio strategy for a Swiss health insurer

Client
Swiss health insurer

Initial Situation

Portfolio adjustment

Today, 75% of Swiss people are insured under an alternative insurance model (AIM) in basic insurance. To proactively shape future developments, clear portfolio and product strategies are needed. Our client, one of the ten largest Swiss health insurers, had a historically grown portfolio with various challenges. The task was to collaboratively align and optimize the entire portfolio as well as individual products to market segments in order to ensure a future-proof offering.

Approach

3D market segmentation

Together with the client and the involvement of numerous internal and external stakeholders from the healthcare sector, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the initial situation in the first phase to establish the foundation for a well-supported and actionable strategy. Based on the insights gained, a three-dimensional approach to market segmentation was developed, which guided the optimization of the portfolio and individual products. These optimizations were incorporated into a new managed care portfolio strategy, evaluated, and prioritized in an implementation roadmap based on available resources, anticipated impact, and confidence level.

This project with Morrow is considered an internal flagship project due to the in-depth analysis and focus on the effective feasibility of the individual measures.
